Whenever you do something and someone takes your picture or tags you your brand becomes a art of theirs and vice versa. You control your brand, you can untag or report it if you don’t want it attached to you. 80-90% of recruiters are using LinkedIn to source employees.
Use good taglines, a nice picture, and a headline tells about you.
Use Interesting 3 cs: curiosity, consistent, and courageous. They are all connected- how curious are you? - how consent is that and are you are searching/reaching out? , courageous-reaching out for opportunities (while being honest and open). While looking into your personal brand you have the opportunity to change what you don’t like or need to make changes in.
-Don’t compare yourself to others because everyone is unique and has a different past. Instead look for what makes you valuable and what resources you have at offered to you.
-Use courage when reaching out for help. Don’t panic if you aren’t where you want to be.
-Ask others for help or advice on your online presence: on Twitter- follow and tweet at agencies and news outlets.
-If you make mistakes just think of how to recover and what you are doing now- don't stress about past mistakes.
-Defining your personal brand: self audit (where and why you have social media- is it to connect with people or prove that your human, etc.).
What are your 3 things : 1 thing that is something you value, 1 talent you have, 1 future goal. Then look at how close you are to advancing one of those 3 things. What should you stop, start or continue doing to advance one. Don’t let the title of your degree limit you. Gifts and talents are never wasted, it is all about how you leverage your talents, goals, and values (in all situations).
Learning what you don’t like is okay. If you get in it and don’t like it you have at least learned something. Holding on is okay as long as they are treating you okay and professionally.
When it comes to agency work people either marry It or date it (forever career or just learn from It before moving on).
Twitter: Then you create a plan- now that I know my 3 things: what am I going to do to move forward. Reach out and retweet, tweet out original materials, follow people or companies you want to work for. Be aware on how you use hashtags. You might think a hastag means one thing but it could be being used for a whole different matter that you don't want attached to your personal brand.
Instagram can be used for interesting visuals, make sure it isn’t derogatory or offensive.
E-Portfolio/blog- always share that link on other social media so that others can find it and learn more about it.
Practical tips- Assume all things are public. Don’t post or use while intoxicated or angry. Use quality photographs.
On social media: Be careful, be considerate, be classy.
